What is medical laser hair removal?

Medical laser hair removal uses high-output energy to achieve a semi-permanent reduction in unwanted body hair. Melanin in the hair roots absorbs the energy, and the resulting heat damages the structures that support hair growth, suppressing new growth. Our clinic uses only devices approved by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Damage to the skin’s outer layer is extremely limited, allowing hair removal to be performed safely and efficiently with peace of mind.

Downtime and side effects of medical laser treatment

This treatment generally involves very little downtime. In rare cases, inflammation such as redness, swelling, a feeling of heat or itching, as well as pain or dryness, may occur. In most cases, these symptoms improve naturally over time. Moisturize thoroughly after treatment. Treatment risks include folliculitis, ingrown hairs, pigmentation, blistering and temporary increases in hair thickness (paradoxical hair growth). Please contact us if any symptoms concern you.

Medical laser treatment overview

Exercise, bathing and alcohol: Do not undertake strenuous exercise, drink alcohol or take a bath on the day of treatment. Showering is permitted from the day of treatment.
Aftercare: Skin is sensitive after laser treatment. Pay attention to moisturizing and sun protection. If ointment or protective tape is required, follow the instructions given to you.
Who may be unable to receive laser treatment: Treatment may not be possible if you have an underlying medical condition, are pregnant or take certain medications.
Makeup after treatment: Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment. If protective tape is required, apply makeup over the tape.
