What is laser toning?

Laser toning

Accessible pricing for repeat visits. Advanced treatment for melasma and dark spots using devices approved by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

For difficult-to-treat melasma. Treatment also aims to improve uneven colour, dark spots and dullness, for brighter, clearer-looking skin.

Laser treatment can improve melasma and other pigmentation concerns over several sessions. It can also treat freckles. Energy is delivered evenly to gradually reduce melanin while avoiding stimulation that can activate melanocytes.

Expected benefits

  • Firmer skin
  • Hair reduction
  • Less dullness
  • Tighter pores
  • Fewer blackheads
  • Less sebum build-up
  • Improved acne-prone skin
Acne and pores

Laser toning for acne marks. Low-energy settings for skin rejuvenation offer a gentle approach to treatment.

Treatment aims to tighten surface pores and help prevent recurring acne, making the skin less prone to breakouts.

Starting acne treatment early helps prevent it from becoming severe. Preventing permanent indentations and scarring is also important. Laser toning can tighten enlarged pores, helping reduce the build-up of bacteria and sebum and the frequency of breakouts. It is an option for recurring acne.

Expected benefits

  • Improvement in inflammatory acne
  • Prevention of recurring acne
  • Reduced sebum build-up

What the treatment involves

Laser toning evenly delivers low-energy pulses from a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser or similar device to gently break down melanin in the epidermis and upper dermis. By targeting melanin without inducing inflammation, it aims to improve melasma, dullness and pigmentation. Repeated sessions can improve brightness and evenness. Stimulation of collagen production may also help tighten pores and improve skin texture. Treatment takes approximately 15–20 minutes, with very little downtime.

Medical lasers for skin treatment

GentleLase Pro

GentleLase Pro — approved by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare

A laser suited to Japanese skin

For spots, freckles, uneven colour and texture, with the aim of clearer-looking skin

The laser reaches the dermis and stimulates the production of collagen and other components to support skin firmness. Repeated treatment can improve skin tone, texture and firmness, tighten pores and reduce acne. The device is suited to Japanese skin, and its wide treatment area helps deliver an even result.

Less pain and fewer skin problems

TRI-BEAM PREMIUM

TRI-BEAM PREMIUM — approved by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare

Two wavelengths for a range of concerns, from spots and freckles to nevus of Ota and tattoo removal.

TRI-BEAM PREMIUM uses 1,064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths, which reach different depths. Treatment can be adapted to superficial or deeper spots, dullness, birthmarks, freckles, melasma and tattoos. Its high output allows effective treatment in fewer sessions while minimising skin damage and inflammation.

Treatment with two wavelengths

For difficult-to-treat melasma

Brighter-looking skin with a more even tone

PTP mode, designed for laser toning

TRI-BEAM PREMIUM includes PTP mode for laser toning. Energy is divided into two consecutive pulses to achieve an effect comparable to a single pulse. Splitting the energy can reduce skin damage and discomfort. This allows treatment at higher output with less stress on the skin, including for people with sensitive skin who have previously avoided treatment.

Treatment for dark spots, melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

Laser toning can treat melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that are difficult to address with conventional laser or light treatments. Low-energy pulses gradually reduce melanin while avoiding inflammation. TRI-BEAM PREMIUM is used for melasma and allows higher output with less stress on the skin than conventional laser toning, including for people with sensitive skin.

Downtime and side effects of medical laser treatment

Redness may occur and usually settles on the day of treatment or the following day. Treated spots and freckles may temporarily darken and form scabs; do not pick them, and let them fall off naturally. Redness after treatment may take several days to resolve. A cream or ointment may be prescribed; use it as instructed. Very rarely, folliculitis-like symptoms or a temporary rash may occur. Temporary pigmentation can develop depending on your skin. Melasma may look slightly darker during the first two sessions; lightening often becomes noticeable from the third session.

Before and after medical laser treatment

Exercise, bathing and alcohol: Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and soaking in a bath on the day of treatment. Showering is allowed that day. Aftercare: Skin is sensitive after laser treatment. Moisturise and protect it from UV exposure. Follow the clinic’s instructions for any ointment or protective tape. Eligibility: Certain medical conditions, pregnancy or medications may prevent treatment. Makeup: Makeup may be applied immediately after treatment. If protective tape is needed, apply makeup over the tape.
